Qatar Holds Talks with Iran FM Amid Mediation Push

(MENAFN) A Qatari delegation is engaged in negotiations with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran as part of broader efforts to bring an end to the ongoing war, according to reports from Iranian media, citing officials.

The discussions come amid continued diplomatic activity involving Pakistan, which remains central to mediation efforts between Washington and Tehran.

The delegation is in Tehran to work toward ending the conflict that began on Feb. 28 after military strikes on Iran by Israel and the United States, according to Tasnim, which cited Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei.

“The mediator between the US and Iran remains the Pakistani side,” Tasnim reported.
Earlier on Friday, Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, arrived in Tehran as part of ongoing mediation efforts, according to statements from the Pakistan Army.

“On arrival, he was received and warmly welcomed by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni,” the statement said.

It added that “Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was also present at the reception.”

This marks Munir’s second visit to Iran as Islamabad continues its diplomatic push. Pakistani sources said his discussions are expected to cover Iran-US talks, regional stability, and other “important issues.”
