Laos Ministry Reveals Overhaul to Elevate Teacher Training
A recent report from the ministry, issued Tuesday, detailed discussions between officials from the Teacher Education Department and key stakeholders about advancements in the Teacher Education Action Plan 2025. Topics included promoting inclusive education equity, embedding gender equality in teacher training, and reinforcing continuous professional development programs for primary school leaders and educators.
The ministry stressed the critical need for enhanced planning, monitoring, and coordination among internal departments and external development partners to effectively shape and execute policies and initiatives aimed at advancing teacher education, training, and career-long professional growth throughout all tiers of the education system.
Meanwhile, the National Assembly of Laos is currently examining a draft law on general education designed to raise education quality, expand access, and improve governance nationwide.
Complementing these efforts, the Lao government is actively pursuing strategies to boost school enrollment rates and cut dropout numbers, signaling a comprehensive push to strengthen the country’s educational framework.
