European Nations Plan Sending Troops to Ukraine

(MENAFN) European countries are set to deploy 50,000 ground forces to Ukraine should a ceasefire be established, a Finnish newspaper revealed on Monday, referencing sources in foreign and security policy.

The report from the newspaper states that a detailed operational strategy has already been created to dispatch a full army unit, led by a Western commander, as part of a security guarantee for Kyiv.

This deployment would take place under the framework of the "Coalition of the Willing," spearheaded by the United Kingdom and France.

The article explains that the presence of 50,000 Western troops would act as a deterrent, effectively discouraging Russia from continuing its military invasion.

The land force would receive backing from allied air and naval divisions, securing Ukrainian airspace.

Although Ukraine might maintain its political independence even if it surrendered some territory, the outlined plan intends to offer Kyiv a reliable security shield should a ceasefire be negotiated, the Finnish daily added.
