Iran's Nuclear Program Partially Intact After US-Israel Strikes

(MENAFN) Key components of Iran's nuclear infrastructure may have survived the joint American-Israeli military campaign, media reported Tuesday, raising fresh concerns over the effectiveness of the strikes in neutralizing Tehran's atomic ambitions.

According to the media report, while the broader production chain has been "substantially damaged," critical segments of the enrichment process — particularly those tied to stockpiles of highly enriched uranium — "may not have been touched at all."

Satellite imagery reviewed following the strikes showed no signs of destruction at the Saghand Uranium Mine, where raw uranium ore is extracted. The facility, which has undergone considerable expansion in recent years, appeared fully operational, with excavation equipment still visibly active on-site.

Among the most strategically significant concerns flagged in the report is the Isfahan Uranium Conversion Facility — the site where uranium is purified and processed into uranium hexafluoride. Locations such as Isfahan have caused the "biggest headache" for both Washington and Tel Aviv, media noted.

In the aftermath of the US-Israeli assault, Iranian authorities were observed sealing off multiple access points to underground tunnel networks near key nuclear sites — a move analysts say implies that "there still remains something valuable down there."

The strikes, launched on Feb. 28, dramatically inflamed regional tensions, prompting Tehran to retaliate against Israel and American-aligned Gulf states, while simultaneously triggering the closure of the Strait of Hormuz — a chokepoint critical to global energy supplies.

A ceasefire brokered through Pakistani mediation took hold on April 8, though subsequent negotiations in Islamabad collapsed without yielding a durable settlement. US President Donald Trump later extended the truce indefinitely.
