UAE Receives Regional Solidarity

(MENAFN) United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed received messages of support from regional and international figures, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, after the Gulf country reported a second consecutive day of attacks attributed to Iran, according to a state news agency on Wednesday.

Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Netanyahu, and Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani “expressed their condemnation of the Iranian terrorist attacks targeting civilians and civilian sites and facilities”, the agency stated.

The same report noted that “The leaders affirmed their countries’ solidarity with the UAE and their support for all measures it takes to safeguard its security and stability and ensure the safety of its citizens,” the news agency added, emphasizing broad political backing for the UAE’s position and actions.

The UAE Ministry of Defense reported on Tuesday that it had successfully intercepted missile and drone assaults for the second day in a row, which it attributed to Iran.

In contrast, Iran’s armed forces rejected claims that they had conducted any recent strikes against the Gulf nation. In an official statement, they said that any military action by Iranian forces would be “clearly and decisively announced.”

They also cautioned that any attack launched against Iran from the UAE would be met with “decisive and regret-inducing” retaliation.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, US President Donald Trump announced that the US military would temporarily suspend an operation involving escorting ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

He explained that the decision is part of broader efforts to secure a comprehensive final agreement with Iran, while keeping existing sanctions in place to assess whether a deal can ultimately be reached.
