Italy, India Push for Closer Cooperation During Modi Visit to Rome

(MENAFN) Italian President Sergio Mattarella has called for stronger ties and expanded cooperation between Italy and India during a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Rome on Wednesday, according to reports.

Hosting Modi at the Quirinale Palace, Mattarella said, “Your presence in Italy is an honor for Italy and demonstrates our shared desire to broadly and fully intensify our collaboration,” as stated by reports.

The talks were also attended by Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.

Mattarella additionally highlighted the contribution of the Indian community in Italy, describing it as “highly valued” and noting that it plays a role that is “dynamically, actively and diligently” beneficial to the country.

Later in the day, Modi was scheduled to meet Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at Villa Doria Pamphili for bilateral discussions, during which both sides were expected to oversee the signing of agreements, issue joint statements, and attend a working lunch, according to reports.
